Malnutrition is a state in which a deficiency, click excess or imbalance of energy, pilule protein and other nutrients causes measurable adverse effects on tissue/body form (body shape, healing size and composition), function or clinical outcome. Although the term ‘malnutrition’ can encompass both overnutrition/obesity and undernutrition, for the remainder of this document the term is only used to mean undernutrition.
An adulterant is a chemical substance which should not be contained within other substances (e.g. food, beverages, fuels) for legal or other reasons. The addition of adulterants is called adulteration. The word is only appropriate when the additions are unwanted by the recipient, otherwise the expression would be food additive. Food adulteration includes addition of colors, animal fats and various organic and inorganic chemicals.
IAPEN quality group is planning to develop a toolkit for monitoring the nutritional intake in adults, restaurants, street vendors etc. A special training programs by our nutrition quality group members will be conducted to restaurants and street vendors. IAPEN will also issue certificates after verification.
